Red Dress Gala
Once a year, we hold our annual Red Dress Gala. The gala serves as one of our major fundraising events for the Alpha Phi Foundation! Money is raised through our casino night and silent auction. Past items auctioned off include a David Yurman bracelet, Kliff Kingsbury football, Tory Burch purse, VI-PHI Parking Spot at the lodge, and a vacation home weekend getaway. At Red Dress Gala, members wear red dresses in support of cardiac care. Boasting attendance of over 500 people, Red Dress Gala is a staple event in Lubbock. This past year, we raised over $16,000 to continue raising money for a cause to live for!
Taste of Texas
After doing Chilifest for seven years, the ladies of Alpha Phi decided to do something different. We asked local food trucks to come out and participate in our event. We also brought out a well-known country artist, Curtis Grimes and had a special guest appearance from ABC's "The Bachelorette," James Taylor. Many people from the Tech community came out and enjoyed sweets and treats while two-stepping the night away!
Alpha Phifa is our annual spring philanthropy soccer tournament. We invite all students to come out and play for our philanthropy raising awareness for heart health. We just hosted our second tournament with raising over $1,200 for the Alpha Phi Foundation! We congratulate our winners Delta Tau Delta (2018) and Texas Tech's Men's Club Soccer Team (2019)!
Every year, the ladies of Alpha Phi pair with Texas Tech Athletics to deliver bears to patients suffering from poor heart health at the Lubbock Heart Health Hospital. We give the patients bears, not only because it’s our mascot, but something sweet yet stiff to replace regular cough pillows heart patients need post operation. The ladies of Alpha Phi know serving our community through this effort will continue to make a difference in the lives of heart patients.
